Since the first time I read this book, it has been one of my very favorite Christmas stories. It deals with disappointments and friendships, and the ending is the sweetest ever! Children are fascinated by the animals from “down under” who are the characters in the book . As a preschool teacher, I have read this book to many, many children - and to my own grandchildren- and they all love it!

My students loved that a "wombat" was a real animal and they enjoyed comparing it to the bears we have in America. I loved that it was about a nativity play and they talked about Jesus - but don't worry it isn't anything that would cause trouble unless you work for a school district that is afraid to offend anyone & they don't let anything but secular things discussed at this time of year. It is a different story, cute characters & illustrations, and not the norm you might hear around Christmas time...just my kind of book.

The book brings to life how important being part of the Christmas story is to some children and if they wait long enough your wish will come true.

My boys really enjoy this book - both for its sweet message and for the charming illustrations of Wombat and the other animals in their Nativity dress. We received as a gift from a friend and I ordered multiple copies to give out this year.

Mem Fox has always been a favorite children's author and I just LOVE this Christmas story! Great one for Christmas around the world units.

Believable characters, strong plot and a good deal of action.The book protrays what might very well be a forecast of our future in the event of an EMP event. I see the reactions of most of the characters as highly plausible and a few, not as likely. But All-in-all a realistic and brutal series of events that could well take place if our society breaks down.Jack Hunt paints a no-holds-barred picture of humanity at its low point. Several times I was surprised at how the plot would shift and shock me. Don't get too attached to all of the characters. If they're not born survivors, they may not make it to the end of the book.

I really enjoyed the first book and have read many of the author’s books. The second book was even better than the first. The boom follows up after the first five days or so of the EMP attack and Tyler, Erika, and Nate are in Whitefish with Tyler’s family. Gabriel is seeking vengeance for his twin brothers death and going after Corey with all he has. The book adds a new character, Jude, who has another survival group camped near Whitefish. An interesting twist for Tyler becomes known and now he knows why his “father” was pushing him harder than Corey when growing up. Great read and looking forward to the next book in April.

A cast of characters that will keep the reader wondering what is going to happen next. Lots of twists and turns in this one and action galore.A new character, Jude, is brought into the mix early in this one. As one might expect, the breakdown of the town of Whitefish, Montana, begins soon after the EMP hits.Most interesting mix of characters, a solid plot and the reader is in for an excellent read. The writing is crisp and action abounds for the duration.Will definitely keep reading this series.Most highly recommended.

By far the worst "prepper" book I have ever read. This is writing at a 7th grade level. Terrible! I should have known it would be after struggling through War Buds. At least attempt to know what you are writing about!!! I will never purchase another book by this author.

OUTSTANDING BOOK as to be expected. Book 2 is as outstanding as book 1 was. If you enjoyed the story so far be sure to read the full series.

What a surprise ending! Great story! A little to real in places but probably true to life! Looking forward to reading the next adventure!

I enjoyed this series immensely. Characters are well developed and plot is well thought out. I am looking forward to the next book in this series

Wish I do write a review like mr. Hunt writes. But since I have no talent just take my word and don't miss any of his books

About the Author

Nate Berkus began his career in design at a young age. With his allowance (dedicated to buying things for his bedroom) and his mother's influence (she's also a decorator), Nate began a lifelong passion for design. After graduating from Lake Forest College, he took a job with Leslie Hindman Auctioneers. It was from this position, as well as an internship with Dominique Aurientis in Paris, France, that he really developed a love for and good knowledge of the decorative arts and furniture. Nate then went on to form Nate Berkus Associates in 1995 at the age of twenty-four. I love Nate Berkus and I love his work, which is why I purchased this book. However, the content is more Room Design 101, with some lovely photography. I've collected some beautiful design books over the years but this doesn't add to my existing knowledge or ability.It might be a perfect gift for a recent college grad or newlyweds setting out to start their first home.

Nice book. Great perspective

I'm not a decorator. I don't have an eye for colors and what matches and what doesn't. I must admit that every home that I've had, my mother has decorated for me. Nate Berkus and his book have allowed me to grow up and begin to decorate my house on my own. His ideas are so simple, but with an enormous impact. He details every aspect of home decorating to include painting as well as how to decorate mantels, bookshelves, and other places that sometimes aren't considered in home decorating. The pictures are very beautiful and full of color. If you are a fan of Oprah and especially Nate, then this book is a must have.

As a fan and biased reviewer (based on that fact) I enjoyed this book very much. The book seems true to the inspirations and styles that Nate represents in all facets of his brand. Did it transform me as a "wanna be" designer, no, but did I enjoy the books amazing photographs, approachable nature and overall experience and thirst for design inspiration, YES. A stunning book for the Nate fans out there who won't be disappointed...but remeber it is a book and not going to give you the ability to be Nate, just some great insights to create our own style journey, so enjoy....

Berkus has nice taste, but I read more in the editorial coverage of this book than is in the book. Lots of nice photos, but nothing terribly new. There are much better books, like the Domino book, or Apartment Therapy.....

What can I say? I think that Nate Berkus is one of the most talented decorators in his industry! I am collecting his books so I believe I still have one to go!

Its pretty basic on colors. Did not find it too helpful. I have come up with better decorating ideas!

I agree with a loot of the reviews on this not being the most brainy book. Most of the comments in the book are, at best, clichés. But the pictures are great, even those of Nate in those weird, unnatural poses. The book does however present some very interesting, and in some cases even innovative design solutions. The style is very Nate, kind of modern-classics. Totally worth the cash, who reads interior books anyways?
