I am a big fan of Lilt Kids Coloring Books for a lot of reasons - high quality, variety, great illustrations, etc. But let's be very clear - this is NOT a kids coloring book - that just happens to be the name of the company. In this publication Lilt Kids Coloring Books has created a product for a very special market - adults who want something a bit racier and naughtier than your standard coloring book. If you are at all offended by off-color language, then I encourage you to pass this one by and check out one of their standard coloring books. However, if you are looking for a coloring book that will allow you to very colorfully and artfully express your frustrations and you aren't offended by swearing or foul language, then "No F*'s Given" may be just the coloring book you have been looking for. It's hard not to smile while coloring these beautiful images that carry off-color epithets, name calling, and insults. It would also make a great gift for your most foul mouthed friends.As with most of the Lilt Kids Coloring books has a couple of bonus things that I really like: There are 2 pages for "color testing" that have small boxes so you can check your marker color before you commit to coloring your image. It's nice to have that in the book instead of having to search for scrap paper every time. They also include bonus images from other coloring books in their series - plus mini images of the covers that can also be colored.While I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest, unbiased review I am happy to say I would definitely buy it again for myself or as a gift for someone else.

I am rating this book only three stars, not because there's anything wrong with it per se, but just regarding its ability to prepare a person to take and pass the LX0-103 and LX0-104 tests (which I took and passed today, in fact, on my first attempt).But first off, let me cover the good stuff. It is well-written and, as someone with over a dozen years of Unix/Linux experience (including casual sysadmin work), I could find nothing factually wrong with it. The second half of the book, which covered the LX0-104 exam objectives, was definitely on-point relative to the exam I took today.It's the first half, the LX0-103 preparation portion, that was not really adequate. In a way, it's not the book's fault; the 103 test felt more like a command-line trivia test than a legitimate test of my Linux experience/knowledge, expecting me to be able to fill in the blanks (literally) regarding distribution-specific file names, file locations, and obscure options and switches. And yet, this is a test prep book, meaning that its job was supposed to be to prepare me for the level of specificity that I needed to be able to provide on the test; the relatively simple multiple-choice questions in the book, as well as the practice tests that you can unlock on the Sybex site, hardly approached the level of difficulty that I encountered on the real 103 test, and didn't even hint at the existence of fill-in-the-blank questions. I mean, I did pass the 103 (barely), but it's not as if some of my correct answers didn't come from previous knowledge/experience rather than the book.It is a good Linux book, and don't take anything I've said to mean otherwise. But I do wish it had worked me a bit harder on the 103 stuff, because (based on the book/website's practice questions) I went into that exam much more confident than I should have been.

I used the Kindle version of this book and it was very good. It covered the objectives clearly, and provided good reviews at the end of the chapters. It also breaks the book in two, one major section for each test. e.g. Chapters 1-5 are for LX0-103, 6-10 are for LX0-104.The best part of the book is access to Sybex's website for their example tests, which provides two example tests. Each are about 50 questions each, many of the questions are very close or the same as the actual tests. Also, when you review the results it provides the "whys" for all answers. e.g. Answer B is incorrect for... Answer A,and D are correct because... The tests are modeled very well to help get the feel for actual test. e.g. Choose two answers..., choose three answers..., choose all that apply... The only part that is bad is that the test is not all multiple choice, some questions are fill in the blank, which I think is much harder.To prepare for the test I read this book through once, then took the Sybex test twice, then took the test.After using this book the actual test for LX0-103 took me about 20 minutes to complete, and another 20 to review. I was done in 45 minutes, start to finish. And I passed. On to test 2, LX0-104.EDIT: Took test two, LX0-104, same result. Test took about 45 minutes totdal from start to finish, passing. Good book, better software. Obtaining this cert also provides LPIC-1 cert, which also provides the Suse cert. Three certs in one. Good luck.

TL;DR: There are better books for anything linux related that you could want to learn. Look for specific books on your topic or the Pearson book if you are studying for the linux+ test.There are two reasons for why you would want to buy a book like this 1) if you want to study for the linux+ exam 2) if you want to get a general overview of linux. This book does neither particularly well and is in fact disappointing in some areas.1)Since this is a book specifically for the linux+ exam the book should adequately prepare the reader for the exam. Now I don't think there is any one resource that will guarantee that you will be able to pass the exam after reading, but this book does this job especially poorly. There are other books ( namely Pearsons) that give better explanation, more information, and a better focus on the test. The online tests that are provided are nice but they make the test seem significantly easier than it is in reality. The exercises in the book are almost always trivial and don't really help you get a deeper understanding of the material. This can give a student the false pretense that they will do well on the exam with no problems but is actually unprepared. So the book under-prepares you but gives the illusion that you are not.2)The book states that it would be a good resource to anyone that wants to learn more about linux. While this book is better than nothing there are plenty of books that would give a better introduction to linux. If you are a beginner this book is not presented in a way that will get you used to using linux. It wants to be a test prep book and presents itself as such. If you are more experienced the book doesn't go in depth enough for you to really get much out of it. Also, because this is a book for the exam there are a lot of features that are discussed that you will never use and aren't integral to your understanding of the system as a beginner.Also something to note is some of the questions given in the book do not have the answers in the reading. It seems pretty ridiculous that the author will expect knowledge of the student that was not included in the text when this is supposed to be a test prep book.

I just discovered that in class when I tried to login to do an assignment. I wish this had been clarified in the posting. I thought I was getting full access when I purchased this item.

If you need this textbook for a class and you also need the online materials, I suggest just buying your access directly from Cengage. The access code that comes with this book basically just the eBook, so if you needed MindTap, you'll need to pay an extra $40 + tax to upgrade your access. The description said this book came with the code. It did have a code but had already been used. Would not have bought this book of I would have known.

One of the most useful textbooks I have ever gotten. If you can afford to buy instead of rent I recommend doing so. This book teaches you how to write a resume, prepare for an interview, write a professional email and so much more. I wish I had bought this. Instead I ended up making copies of the pages I knew would be useful in the future. When my friend from another school felt underprepared for the job hunting process I let her make copies of some of the pages too and she said it was really useful during her interviewing process. Now she is an accountant with a starting salary of $60,000!I definitely never recommend buying books because who has the money for that, but some books are worth investing in and this is definitely one of those!

I got this book for my business class. There chapters are quick reads and most of it is common sense, but it was a good enough book with some helpful things to help in business. I enjoyed reading the difference between a memo and email and it had some helpful stuff here and there

Not a great book, but not horrible. I can't comment if the organization of the book would be good start to finish as our professor has us jump chapters. There are a lot of graphics, almost too many. I also find it confusing when graphics are referenced on completely different pages causing you to flip back and forth. It's horribly distracting.

The book just isn’t that good for the price you pay. This is not helpful for a smallish, big print; wide line space filling book. I expected much more and got way less in my opinion. This book doesn’t cut it. I think the author should be ashamed of himself. Of course, I’m ashamed for being taken which is my own fault. The book is going back. Buyer beware. Look at the sample pages before you buy. Also look at the physical size too.

If you want a cookbook that you can follow the recipes and have an absolute perfect meal this is it!!!! Do not change one measurement because Ina knows her stuff!!!

I love all of Ina's books and her recipes are very easy to follow. I enjoy cooking and my boyfriend has liked everything I've made from this book. I plan on getting all of her books one day!

Always like Ina. Every time I watch her show, I pick up a trick; whether it be of cooking or hosting a dinner. "Family Style" is really the right word for this cook book. If you wants "warm" friendly recipes that you can serve to the mass, try this book out.

My son was all judgy about Ina Garten and refused to listen to me when I said her recipes do not fail. After reading the reviews, I chose this cookbook as a Christmas because he and his wife enjoy cooking for small gatherings and entertaining. The first recipe he tried sold him. He's already marked several others he wants to try. Now he's the one telling everyone that Ina's recipes do not fail.

First off, let me say that I use this book often and, for the most part, I absolutely LOVE it. The first recipe I tried, Sagaponack Corn Pudding, was truly different from other corn pudding recipes I'd tried, living up to Garten's promise that it would not be bland - and it wasn't - nor was it too spicy. It had some added flavor thanks to cheddar cheese and fresh basil but those with less experimental tastes could leave out the basil (as I did when we had small children at dinner one evening) and it would still be delicious. Another plus to this cookbook: Many of the recipes are not only family-friendly but easy to throw together. There are also plenty of dishes for vegetarians as well as meat eaters, making meal planning easy. Nearly every recipe I tried was wonderful, with the minor exception of the Chicken Noodle Soup (I prefer my recipe). Now the caveat: If you like extremely exotic or unusual foods, this may not be the ideal cookbook for you. While there ARE recipes which are new and different (like the Saffron Risotto with Butternut Squash or a truly different and yummy Espresso Ice cream, better than any I've had thus far), MOST of the recipes are updated versions of familiar favorites..Rice Pilaf, Hashed Browns, Fried Chicken, etc. Professional or gourmet cooks may want something more challenging. But I've had a hard time finding cookbooks which contain tasty recipes I can serve, night after night, and still keep my family happy and well-fed while minimizing my kitchen time. For those purposes, this one fits the bill. And if you happen to have any guests drop in at meal time, you can bet they'll be happy too!

I am the quintessential "ambitious but inexperienced" cook to whom Ina Garten's book are supposed to cater. Prior to using this book, my lasagnas would make messes, rather than good dinners. Where other recipes fail to deliver, EVERYTHING I have tried from this book has succeeded. Speaking of the turkey sausage lasagna... I made endless substitutions, right down to using vegan Tofurky sausage and pureed cottage cheese instead of ricotta. It turned out wonderfully, and my non-vegetarian "please don't put meat sustitute in my food" husband loved it. Following the recipes exactly might be important in some cases, but the cooking process seems to be the magical element in many others. In fact, my spouse doesn't really care for sauce-less veggies but loved the roasted asparagus recipe when I used baby broccoli instead.I appreciate the footnotes that help me when I want to stray from the original recipe, or make something ahead of time. This really increases the utility of the recipes.While the ingredients might be expensive at times, at least they end up producing "mmm's" at the table rather than ending up in the trash or dog bowl.And yes, there is a lot of butter used throughout, but the food turns out so elegant and rich it takes only a portion to be satisfied, and this calorie watcher has not gained weight despite eating the mashed potatoes.If you combine the ideas in this book with those from the t.v. show- make one main dish, a salad/veg & dessert- you will have a complete lovely dinner without needing 2 ovens and 2 hours. This book has made me feel inspired and successful, despite being quite average in the kitchen. If I can now make good tiramisu, so can anyone.

This is one of my favorite Barefoot Contessa cookbooks. I love her food-- simple ingredients, delicious food, elegant presentation and all with a minimum of fuss. I love that all her cookbooks are a reasonable size, I can actually use them in the kitchen! And I love that every recipe has a picture. I turn to Family Style whenever I am having company. It is so easy to put together my menu from this cookbook-- I have even been inspired by her table settings.In this book, I think the Dinners and Vegetables are the standout sections. In Dinners, don't miss the Herb-Roasted Lamb or the Penne with Five Cheeses. In Vegetables, be sure to make Mashed Yellow Turnips (a welcome change from mashed potatoes), Garlic Sauteed Spinach, and the Rosemary Polenta. I can't even count the number of times I have made the Spinach, I even make it for myself when I am home alone, it is so easy and good.

This was a really fun book! I love pictures and this book has a lot of neat pictures and stories about cruisers. I just got back from my second cruise. The story of a back street Yaoundé, Cameroon neighborhood through the eyes of a very perceptive dog. Written by Patrice Nganang and translated from the French by Amy Reid the book takes you on a realistic trip to an African city you will probably never visit. Funny and serious at the same time each page full of the sights, smells, and emotions of day to day living in Africa. Sparse and creative writing style combined with sophisticated insight puts this book on the same shelf as Camus 'The Stranger' and Steinbeck's 'Cannery Row'.

With the publication of Temps de chien Nganang emerged as a writer noted for his innovative use of the French language. Any discussion on this novel that glosses over the function of language would amount to a parochial analysis. One can hardly speak of Nganang's narrative technique without reckoning with the linguistic novelty that characterizes his style of writing. Temps de chien addresses the question of language in Cameroonian literature in particular and in fictional writing in Africa as a whole. Nganang focuses on the manner in which the African writer employs language to wed form to content. The particularity of his style resides in the presence of bits and pieces (if not chunks) of Cameroonian languages in the text. In his attempt to transpose the speech mannerisms of Cameroonians into French, he employs a variety of linguistic codes, a phenomenon which Haugan refers to as "the alternate use of two languages, including everything from the introduction of a single unassimilated word up to a complete sentence or more into the context of another language" (Quoted in Omole, 58). Temps de chien harbors an amalgam of codes--French, English, Cameroonian Pidgin, Camfranglais and numerous indigenous languages. It is a novel in which street-talk, also known as "Kam-Tok", "Camspeak" or "Majunga Talk" (Ze Amvela, 56) blends freely with conventional French to produce a new code whose effect on the reader is exhilarating. In an interview he granted Taina Tervonen, Nganang had this to say about the stylistic choices he had to make in writing this novel: "La rue a une avance singulière tant sur les journalistes que sur les écrivains. Ce roman essaie de se mettre à l'école de la rue.... L'imagination et l'oralité des rues a fabriqué ces personages qui existent et que j'ai mis dans mon roman" (105) [The street exerts a unique pull both on journalists and writers. This novel attempts to depict the street school....The imagination and orality of the street have produced the characters that I have inserted into my novel]. In his attempt to interpolate the speech patterns of indigenous populations into the French language, he switches codes. Code-switching enables him to transpose native languages, Pidgin English and Camfranglais into French.
