I am a disabled Operation Iraqi Freedom veteran. I spent more than two years in a hospital, and I lost count of all of the different therapists, doctors, psycologists, and other heath care professionals I saw through my tenure. When I was finally released from the hospital, I became a shut in, and would only leave my house for basic necessities of life, like many with PTSD do. It was just, "easier" to remain a shut in.As a member of the Wounded Warrior Project, I was invited to a cook-out at an equine therapy facility near my home. The bait of barbecue was the motivation for me to get out of the house.I'm forever greatfful I took that step.From the first moment I arrived at the farm, I felt such an incredible feeling on being whole again. As I continued to recieve therapy there, the broken pieces of my severely injured brain, came together again, and the shadows of PTSD started to clear.Two years after starting that therapy, I learned how to love again, and more deeply than I could have ever imagined because of a horse. To the point now where I can live without the fog of medications and anti-depressants, and to the point where I could love another person enough to get married and trust her more than I ever thought I could.After I started riding, I was hired by the farm to work as a photographer. I have the privladge to doccument the same healing of other vets, children with disabilities such as Autism, caner, or many of the other illnesses the autor talks about, and can tell you that every word, and every feeling he describes in this book are spot on.I can't say thank you enough to the author for putting into a book what I've tried to explain to people outside the horse world, but never could.I strongly recomed this to everyone, especially anyone who's had any trauma in their lives, and hope they find a horse as great as the one I found to help them fully recover.

A TERRIFIC BOOK AND FASINATING READ! I read lots of horse books and many are just blah, blah, blah. I found this one at an airport bookstore and thought I'd read a few pages to fall asleep. OMG! This book was so enthralling that I finished it 5 hour on my plane ride home. It finally explains WHY horse therapy works where other therapies fail. Anyone who works with horses or who is in the therapeutic riding profession can tell you that this is so, but most are hard pressed to say why. Hopefully traditional medicine will now start embracing these therapies and integrating them into their treatments. It would be wonderful if we as a society could learn that popping more pills is not always the best or healthiest option. Please read this book. Not to sound trite, but it will change your perspective and impact your life.

As a practitioner in the field of Equine-based learning and development, I was anxious to read Tim Hayes first book. I was not disappointed. I’ve read many books about horses related to the emerging field of equines healing people, each of them different and leading to the same premise - horses do have a special and undeniable ability to positively alter human lives. Riding Home was unique in the way it wove in the how and why horses do what they do throughout the book, intermingled with real accounts of people that will capture your heart and yearn for you to hear more transformative stories. Despite the fact that I’m already working in this field, I found the book captured my attention. And yet, I think it’s also an ideal book for someone with little or no experience with horses. They will learn more about their nature, their needs, and special ability to change a variety of human lives, from the war veteran to the at-risk teen, the autistic, as well as those who simply want to experience personal growth.

Tim Hayes uses multiple ways to show and convince us why and how the time spent with a horse can heal. This book is foundational in that he does our research for us, from ancient times until now, showing us that the horse has always been there, hoping for relationship instead of a violent and dominated usage. The possibilities are mind blowing, for we have just begun to see the benefits of the partnership the horse offers. Real healing happens in the presence of horses. Tim Hayes beautifully and flawlessly describes the amazing (and very hard to describe) feeling that interacting with horses can provide, and the unlimited opportunities that one can benefit from having horses in their life. I have read many many books and this is a must read for everyone. It is clearly evident he has extensive knowledge of horses and respects them as they deserve to be respected. He is a blessing to the horseworld and to those that love them. Thank you Tim for producing such an outstanding book.

This should be required reading for every horse program, and it is a "must read" for anyone who has anything to do with horses. Hayes' understanding of the nature of the horse is powerful and enlightening. If every horse person read this, it would end the misunderstanding humans often have about horses that all too often leads to abusive training practices. It is every horse person's obligation to try to understand things from the horse's perspective. The stories of humans who have been healed by connecting to a horse are moving and inspiring. Buy this book.

Purchased this book because it told about therapeutic riding programs and the amazing effects they have on individuals. Having volunteered with 2 totally different Hippa programs which I believe in whole heartedly and brought me great joy to experience the wonderful changes in individuals first hand; made me want to read someone else's opinions on them. What I took away was life changing in many ways. It helped me to not only understand myself but others in my life as well. Never would have imagined a book could help me so much especially when it was purchased and being read for entirely different reasons. Loved it and will definitely share and read again.

My kid's high school no longer issues take-home textbooks; the physical books stay in class, and students have access to an online version. It's pretty frustrating to use an online textbook for homework or studying, and classroom notes only go so far. This isn't as complete as a real textbook and doesn't cover things as comprehensively as a beginner or a struggling student might need, but it's a decent addendum to other learning resources.This book handled all 3 of my concerns: first, it gives my kid an opportunity to see these concepts and problems explained in a different way than what he got in school; second, it's an easy-to use reference for homework; and last, it serves as a refresher for me (his reluctant tutor who learned Algebra II many years ago). I've used other "Dummies" books in the past, and found them all decent in covering their subjects, same for this edition.

I got a copy of this to assist one of my Algebra students. It does not explain topics thoroughly enough for a struggling to understand. In addition, there are not enough example problems to demonstrate the various concepts as they are introduced. I am still trying to find a better, affordable Algebra text to use with my students.

Great book. I needed algebra 2 review for an admission exam into my science grad school (have been out of school for over 10 years) and this was the perfect way to learn and understand the concepts. I was hung up on logarithms until this book made it so simple. Passed the exam easily. Would definitely recommend.

I own a lot of the "for dummies" math books and they're generally great for reviewing concepts, this one included. However, I 100% recommend getting the workbook version instead. Same content plus practice problems and examples.

My one stop for reading up on all the stuff my Math teacher couldn't explain right.

Excellent for both people reviewing the subject, (Me as a retiree volunteer for tutoring math!) , or for students taking this course for the first time. I was able to get to a very proficient level with a couple of weeks of some diligent, and not painful, study. Author has as excellent way of explaining difficult subjects in a straight forward and clear manner.

This is a very good book for a serious student seeking independent acquisition of serious algebra skills. It seems a stretch to associate "dummies".

I bought this book for my High School needs such as preparing for my final exam and understanding past concepts. The book is very detailed on various topics that aren't even covered in my school classroom or curriculum. It's filled with many useful examples that are all worked out step by step which are easy to follow and work off of. I worked with this book 3 weeks before my Finals and I aced it partly because of this book. I used to do below average (70% below) on tests and assessments but I pulled through the year with a ton of help with this book.Pros- Detailed Concepts- Organized Topics and Outlines- Useful icons and shortcuts- Easy to follow examples- Many Examples!Cons- Not hardcover (REALLY minor)- Some concepts were misinterpreted

Dr. Small has created a very readable, well referenced, delightfully complete and unbiased opus on Laser and Light. This textbook is current, easy to navigate and has copious pictures and diagrams, well developed patient education sheets, consents and procedure flow sheets. The physics, histology, tissue interactions and safety of each laser treatment and wavelength are presented in a sensible manner that serves as a great reference for neophytes and more experienced laser practitioners alike. This book is the most boring text I've read in my years to taking courses. Granted, it is a text book, so I'm not expecting epic adventure. But still, it should grab the readers' attention. After reading this book I feel like I've absorbed absolutely nothing.But, if it's required for your course, what choice do you really have right? Just be warned, you will most likely need to find alternate sources of information to actually absord. This book is awful.

Not a well written textbook. Had to buy it for a class. Disappointed in the organization and content. It has small print and large paragraphs, which make it hard to read and difficult to break out concepts. Many of the concepts written about were not in the index.

Content was ok and adequate, but a very dry read. Then again aren't a lot of text books? The price what kills it for me. It's currently priced at around $140 I got it for $123. Even at that price it still isn't even close to worth it. The book store at my college wanted over $200. That's an even bigger joke. We all know text books are a rip off by now though. Overall, I can tolerate it, but the price is absurd.

Good condition

It would be well worth purchasing this book for autodidacts and if purchased for school it should be kept as it makes a great reference book. That being said Amazon does buy books like these back at up to 80%.

The idea of an all-in-one kit appealed to me. I'm no kid (age 70), just looking for something relaxing to try. First the paper. It is advertised as "premium." It is heavy and coated. I found it difficult to work with, although the designs are quite pretty. The major downfall: The directions. Between the text and the images, the only item I was able to make was the Box. Forget even attempting the Crane! And, for the record, not all are "classic" in that one figure, or model, requires the use of scissors. Not classic origami. If you have had some experience in folding models, then this is a nice, compact kit. But I do not recommend it for beginners.

The paper is excellent. The colors are cheerful but not blindingly bright; I would say that the product illustrations are pretty accurate. It is strong and smooth, easy to fold, and holds a crease. I wanted to be able to write a message on the inside of the paper before folding it into an origami figure, and the paper has exceeded my expectations in that regard. I was even able to use a couple of brush markers (Copic and Sharpie) that normally bleed through regular paper, and they didn't bleed at all. I also wrote on the patterned side just to make a pretty little sign.The instructions, on the other hand, are a bit too minimalist for someone who's not experienced with origami. If I hadn't seen cranes and unfolded them before, I would never have figured out how to fold them from these instructions.Still, I may buy another of these kits just because the paper is so nice!Edited to add: I notice that a lot of origami paper reviews complain that the paper isn't square or that it is smaller than advertised. This paper is square. Each sheet measures 15.2cm or 6" in each dimension.

Not a bad purchase. I got this on sale and used it as a stocking stuffer, which worked perfectly because it helped take up room! It came with several bright colorful pieces of paper but it really only comes with instructions that have a few designs. They were also instructions that were just printed on a white piece of paper, kind of like when you get instructions for how to put something together, so it took alot of effort on my part to get my Step Daughter into it because the images didn't catch her eye. Overall if you want something to really teach you origami I'd spend extra money to buy a book with better pictures and more designs but if you're just looking for a cheap gift, this isnt bad!!

bought this for my 6 year old daughter, She loved it. I had to help her with a lot of the folds but it was a fun activity to do together.

The directions for how to do the origami is awful and frustrating. The paper is cute

Paper is good quality. Disappointed at the “booklet” it’s more like instructions sheet. They are easy to follow with cute designs.

It comes with fine Origami Paper, and I love the patterns. But the booklet of how to make Origami is made out of paper. But everything else is great

I have 2 daughters. This book is really good for anyfarther who has daughters. It teaches fathers many unknown factors about there daughters. It would be a great gift for any new dad having a daughters. Take what you can from this book and be yourself. Men are designed to be great fathers. The just have to put themselves to the test and spend time with their daughters. This is my quote not the author's quote but i would have to say it was influenced by this author...My quote...."A daughter will be much happier with one Toy and be able to spend time with her dad verses a million toys and very little time with dad".

Well packaged and timely delivery. Thanks! This book was bought for participants at a Daddy Daughter Retreat. It was purchased based on three things: 1) reputation of the author in her field, 2) Ms. Meeker's introduction...which is one of the best I have read in regards to inspiring me to be a great dad...the scripture reference at the end of the OT, God's last words before the Intertestamental period is to me a dad! Wow. Got my attention. 3) the devotional topics: appropriate, concise and dadly and godly focused. Check it out! Am waiting on feedback from the dads. Their initial thoughts were similar to mine.

I highly recommend all of Dr. Meeker's books. There's simply no better resource for fathers who want to make a profoundly positive impact on their daughters. I've read every book of its kind, and this devotional is packed with insights--often after a solid book release, a devotional will come after: many times, it seems, to simply extend book sales. This is different, it's a weighty book of its own.

I am really enjoying this book. I've made it part of my daily routine for over a month now. I've been only reading and considering the "Flex Your Dad Muscles" sections. Once I finish the book, I plan to re-read it as intended - as a weekly devotional and write in a journal the results or my thoughts for each "Flex Your Dad Muscles" activity.

Have only just started reading this, but it does provide some very thought provoking information. Great book if you’re looking for perspective, reassurance, or just looking to expand your mind

My husband got a lot of great information from this book. Not all of it was something we agree with but you can expect that from most books. Overall we would recommend it.
