As someone who was aiming to have a very classy, traditional wedding this was a lifesaver! I like knowing the "right" way to do things according to tradition. The biggest help in this book was the guide for attire depending on formality of wedding and time of day. I never knew tuxedos were only for nighttime! The description of a 'morning coat' for a morning wedding sounded outdated and ridiculous...until I looked up an image on the web. HOLY SMOKES that is a classy ensemble, and you bet my groom and his men wore it! They looked and felt like a million bucks! This book is full of the information that just isn't found on Pinterest. Probably useless if you're going for non-traditional. But if you want to go classic, BUY THIS!

It's a period piece; some relevance to contemporary weddings, but not much. Miss Manners is much better.

I gave this book two stars because it did offer proper ettiquette. However, the author seemed to focus more on what the second time bride could NOT do. I was hoping for postive help and possibly suggestions on how to handle second wedding issues. Instead, I found the same attitudes and connotations so many people have, who obviously haven't experienced either the lose of a mate or divorce. I wouldn't recommend this book unless you're ready for a "dressing down".

Who Was Selena?   On a hot day in 1993, tens of thousands of fans packed an outdoor arena in Monterrey, Mexico. The band onstage played its opening songs and the crowd began to push forward. They wanted to get closer to the person they came to see: a young singer from Texas who was known simply by her first name—Selena.   As the music played on, some fans shoved each other to get a better look. Others tried to climb onstage. The situation was getting dangerous. Selena’s father yelled from backstage to get out of there now! He didn’t want the crowd to hurt his daughter. Selena and her band stopped playing and ran to the wings—the sides of the stage—for safety.   Once backstage, the band tried to find a way out of the arena. There was only one exit and the crowd was blocking it. Selena’s father came up with a plan. He thought that if he spoke to the crowd, he could convince them to stop. He ran onstage and asked them to calm down. But this made the audience even louder. People started throwing cans and bottles. They were there to see Selena, not her father!   Selena understood their frustration. She told the band that she was going back onstage. She had just learned to speak Spanish and was determined to talk to the crowd herself. Everyone told her not to. They feared she could get hurt. But Selena never did what anyone expected. She trusted that her fans would listen to her.   Selena stepped back on the stage as the fans shoved and shouted. Smiling and calm, she spoke into the microphone, asking them to cálmese, por favor. Calm down, please.    Thousands of fans suddenly stopped pushing to listen to the twenty-two-year-old star. The band was amazed. One by one, they came back onstage and picked up their instruments. Then, Selena began to sing. Her voice filled the air and the crowd sang along to their favorite songs. The concert was a huge success.   Selena’s understanding of her fans saved the show from disaster. It also helped her become the passionate musician that the world came to love.   Chapter 1: Texas Girl     Selena Quintanilla (say: KIN-tah-NEE-ya) was born on April 16, 1971, in Lake Jackson, Texas. It was a sunny and warm Friday in the spring. Her parents were Marcella and Abraham Jr., whom everyone called Abe. She had an older brother named Abraham III, or A.B. for short, and an older sister named Suzette. The Quintanilla family was Mexican American. Their ancestors had immigrated to the United States from Mexico to search for work and a better future.   Life was hard in Texas for people with Mexican roots, or Mexicanos (say: MEH-hee-KAH-nohs). It had been that way for over a hundred years. Before the Mexican-American War began in 1846, South Texas had been a part of Mexico. People there were free to celebrate their heritage, which combined Aztec, Mayan, and Spanish cultures.   But in 1848, the United States took control of the land above the Rio Grande. Mexicans in Texas now found themselves in American territory. White Americans, or Anglos (say: ANG-lohs), did not want them there. And Mexico itself was now divided. Southern Mexicans distanced themselves from Texas-Mexicans in the north, whom they called Tejanos (say: teh-HA-nohs), the Spanish word for Texan.   Even though they had been living on the land for generations, Tejanos faced a lot of prejudice. Abe had seen it himself as a boy in Texas. When he was in school, he was sent to the principal’s office and hit for speaking Spanish. Some Anglos even put signs on their stores that read no mexicans. And the city of Corpus Christi even went so far as to “code” their citizens by language and color.   There were not many Mexicans in Lake Jackson. Marcella and Abe did not want their children to feel the unfair treatment that they had experienced growing up. It was important to them that Selena, Suzette, and A.B. fit in with their white neighbors and the Anglo children. Marcella and Abe taught their children to speak English instead of Spanish. Even Selena’s name was pronounced the Anglo way: “Seh-LEE-nah” instead of “Seh-LEH-nah.”   Selena, Suzette, and A.B. loved growing up in Texas. The family had a home in a nice neighborhood and they had many friends. A flowering pink mimosa tree bloomed in their yard. Locals called the area “Snake Jackson” because it was so hot and green—it reminded them of the jungle.   The Quintanillas were Jehovah’s Witnesses. This meant that the family spent many afternoons walking door-to-door preaching in their town.  Everyone loved Abe, Marcella, and their three well-behaved children.   Growing up, Selena was an adventurous tomboy. She played kickball outside and caught fireflies at night. She challenged boys to races and usually won. If someone dared Selena to do something, she would do it. Though she was small, Selena was never one to back down from a challenge or a dare. One time at school, a friend dared Selena to flip her skirt over her head. Just as she did it, a teacher caught her in the act. Selena was completely embarrassed!   The teachers and students at O.M. Roberts Elementary School loved Selena. She was very polite, got good grades, and was always smiling. She even kept a good attitude when she had to skip other kids’ birthday parties or holiday celebrations. Her religion didn’t celebrate these things.   At home, Abe filled the days with music. It was important that his children share his passion. When Abe was young, he had been in a band called Los Dinos (say: lohs DEE-nohs). The band had been very successful in South Texas. But it wasn’t successful enough. Abe had to leave the band behind to work in a factory, and sometimes drive a truck. He had to earn enough money to take care of his family.   Teaching music was a way to pass his dreams down to his children. For Abe, it wasn’t a hobby. It was required. When he taught A.B. to play the bass, they would practice for hours. Selena would get jealous and sing her father’s favorite songs to get his attention. Her voice was strong and beautiful. Abe felt she was destined to become famous.   Abe saw that his children were talented enough to form a family band. A.B. played bass while Selena sang. Suzette played drums even though she hated them. She thought drums were for boys.   The band practiced almost every day in the garage. Abe taught the kids gospel and rock ’n’ roll songs that he had known since his own childhood. Selena, Suzette, and A.B. practiced more modern dance music that they heard on the radio.    The family played well together. Over time, the band became better and better. Abe signed them up to perform all over Texas. They played at small clubs and restaurants in Houston. They were the opening act for a band called La Mafia. They even won two hundred dollars at a county fair!   Selena was still only eight years old and shy around strangers. But singing gave her confidence. Audiences couldn’t believe such a beautiful voice came from someone so small. This little Texas girl was something special.

Review

“Deedy’s text sparkles with sly humor… The stunning acrylic illustrations are full of color, light, and humor… This wonderful book will delight children.”“Lively and funny… Fun to compare with other versions, this telling has magic all its own.”“Austin’s cockroach dwelling is a desirable piece of real estate, with its stairs made of gum wrappers, its wrought-plastic comb railing, and its exclusive mid-Havana address (it’s a lamppost). A friendly sprinkling of Spanish words, warmly drawn relationships and a lot of puns all widen the audience for this spirited story.”“Deedy’s masterful retelling of this Latino folktale has a rollicking voice imbued with sly tongue-in-cheek humor. The acrylic illustrations, in a hyper-realistic style reminiscent of a softer William Joyce, are rendered in a vivid tropical palette. Shifting perspectives and points of view add vitality to the compositions, and facial expressions reveal both emotions and character traits. A scattering of Spanish words adds zest to this fine read-aloud.”

The story is great fun. The pictures are wonderful and full of clever details; and the puns are also clever, and will not be missed by adults who read to the children. The accompanying CD alone (featuring the professional storyteller Ms. Deedy) is worth the purchase. I used this to read aloud to a 1st grade class, with several children who knew at least enough Spanish to "help" translate the smattering of Spanish words.

There are not many books I can read to my children that reflect the stories of my childhood. While most American children have memories of being read about three little bears or pigs, I have memories of a little cockroach looking for a husband and a soft spoken mouse. When I stumbled on this book at the library, I was ecstatic to find it on Amazon for sale. I immediately ordered it and added it to our home's library. I am so excited to have a book I can read my children that reflects my childhood memories and my family's culture. Thank you. Now if I can just find one on La Niña Buena y La Niña Mala.

While visiting Cuba, a group of school children performed a version of this cute story. Since the play was in Cuban, it was nice to find the English version of this story when I got home. The book was affordable so I could add it to my keepsakes of my trip to Cuba.

The award-winning Cuban-born author retells the story of a green cockroach indigenous to her native country. When it is time for beautiful young Martina to find a husband, her grandmother gives her some wise advice: to always spill coffee on her suitor's shoes to test his temper. Martina uses the coffee test on her first three suitors-a rooster, a pig, and a lizard-and is not pleased by their insulting and rude behavior. When Martina immediately likes her fourth suitor-the humble gardener mouse-she refuses to apply the coffee test. Her grandmother insists, but before she can spill coffee on the gardener's shoes, he spills some on hers. They both have a good laugh when the mouse reminds her he also has a Cuban grandmother. The skillfully crafted acrylic illustrations capture the island's ambience-its colonial architecture, baroque ironworks, and wardrobe details like the floral design on Martina's lace scarf. The cockroach and her grandmother share eye-pleasing, human characteristics, and their whimsical expressions make them lovable. The text flows easily, and the few Cuban colloquialisms do not get in the way of understanding the entertaining story.

"Martina the Beautiful Cockroach" is a brilliantly told tale that makes a great read-aloud for young and old listeners; children will laugh at the funny characters while adults will admire the wry commentary on courtship. Upon reading this book to an audience of one-hundred plus people at my former elementary school, one mom said she was going to give the book to her teenage daughters so that they too would be mindful of the message contained within. Trust me, the coffee test always works!

Great price. Bought it to keep our Cuban culture alive in our family as part of our story telling.

Have purchased so many copies of this book for young dating age teens. Great story with great concepts.

Purchased this for a gift and it was not only used but the pages were breaking away from the binder. I don’t even want to leave one star.So not happy.

Review

"Coyne's book is the best general explication of evolution that I know of and deserves its success as a best seller." -R.C. Lewontin, New York Review of Books"[Coyne] makes an unassailable case." -New York Times "In nine crisp chapters...the respected evolutionary biologist lays out an airtight case that Earth is unspeakably old and that new species evolve from previous ones." -Boston Globe "I recommend that Mr. Coyne's insightful and withering assessment of evolutionary studies of human psychology and behavior be taped to the bathroom mirrors of all those (perhaps especially journalists) inclined to be swept into excited announcements of What Evolution Shows About Us." -Philip Kitcher, Wall Street Journal "With logic and clarity, Coyne presents the vast trove of scientific evidence that supports Darwin's theory." -Cleveland Plain Dealer "It's always a pleasure to tell people about a wonderful book, especially when the subject of the book is of universal and critical importance. I read this book a while back and really enjoyed it. Note: If you are a creationist, you will doubtless NOT enjoy this. If you are an evolutionist, you'll probably be quite pleased with the book. And there's the pity. For many, the book won't be read on its merits but for whether it supports or challenges one's views on the issue of Darwinian evolutionary theory. In terms of the book itself. . . . The purpose is specified by Jerry Coyne, the author, on page xiv: "This book lays out the main lines of evidence for evolution. For those who oppose Darwinism purely as a matter of faith, no amount of evidence will do--theirs is a belief not based on reason. But for the many who find themselves uncertain, or who accept evolution but are not sure how to argue the case, this volume gives a succinct summary of why modern science recognizes evolution as true."The book unfolds in a straightforward fashion. Chapter 1 summarizes the nature of evolution. He discusses the essence of the concept of evolution--"a species undergoing genetic change over time" (page 3). Also discussed is "natural selection," the process by which the more "fit" individuals tend to be more successful in reproductive terms That is, they leave more offspring than their less fit peers).Subsequent chapters outline the evidence for evolution, including often jury-rigged adaptations (evolution makes do with the organism/species as it exists and often leaves organisms that are poorly designed--but still capable of successful reproduction: think the lower back of humans!), the fossil record, a more detailed discussion of the process of natural selection, the relationship between sex and evolution, how species arise and develop, and--always an issue that excites passion--the relevance of evolution for humankind. The book itself does well what it sets out to do. There are things that bother me. As with many, the author claims that evolution is a "fact." I have never understood this allegation. Neo-Darwinian theory is a THEORY--not a fact. Lots of facts support the theory. By itself, though, it is NOT a fact. I think advocates of evolution shoot themselves in the foot with such an argument. Many, of course, would rejoin, "It's ONLY a theory." Such folks also don't know what they're talking about. A good theory is a great thing! Not "just." Quantum theory is terrific; Einstein's relativity is a fine theory. And so on.All in all, if the reader wants an accessible advocacy of evolutionary theory, this book does the job nicely. If the reader does not accept it, the book, of course, will not be very compelling.

This was a masterpiece - concise yet comprehensive, and very interesting. Even though I majored in a science (chemistry) when I was in university, I learned a great deal. Dr. Coyne makes an unassailable case for the validity of the Theory of Evolution, supporting his statements with evidence from a variety of scientific disciplines. I must add that you definitely don't have to be a scientist to understand it. I'm going to keep this book as my primary reference when I encounter deniers of evolution.

I had to buy this for my college evolution class. I am a Christian who believes evolution is true. Yes, we do exist! Some of the diehard Christians would say I'm not actually Christian for this, but who's to say our Creator did not enable us to evolve? Regardless, that's a whole different argument, but I just wanted to point out that my review is from the point of view of a Christian who believes in evolution. As a whole, I did really like this book. He makes many good points and backs up his points with interesting evidence, some of which I wasn't even aware of, despite being a science student. I found out about midway through my class that I didn't really need to buy this book since my professor would go over the key topics of certain chapters of this book that he wanted to discuss, but I would still find myself reading the chapters myself because I found all the little stories and such that he includes to be very interesting. Normally, like most other college students, if I don't HAVE to read the chapters, I won't! But yet I did with this book. My professor really liked this book as well, though, of course, he got his degree in evolutionary sciences and is friends with Jerry Coyne. The only thing I was opposed to in this book is that sometimes he does go on tangent-like ramblings, usually whenever he was directly trying to discredit Christianity. Not creationism, but Christianity. These rants weren't very often though and can be ignored, but as a Christian it was a bit off-putting. I can perfectly well understand discrediting creationism, but discrediting a whole religion is a bit much, especially when there are others like me who are Christians who believe in evolution. In fact, there was a good number of Christians in my evolution class who had such beliefs.Nevertheless, if you can ignore his tangents like I did(which is the only reason I didn't rate this 5 stars - I would rate it 4.5 stars), then you'll find this book to be a very good read!

The majority of the book has some good information and does test you on your ability to resolve issues based upon rules from Criminal Procedure. However, a significant portion of this book is "sloppy" as another reviewer noted. Someone needs to go through these questions and answers and edit them thoroughly. As an example, if you read number 54, it discusses police in hot pursuit of a felon who had committed a crime. Nothing in the question states that the crime occurred a day earlier and the reader would be unable to assume or infer such information. However, the answer states that "because it happened a day earlier..." Where does the question state that the crime occurred a day earlier? There are many examples of the above where the reader is forced to makes assumptions that are no where in the question. This is not something a student should do for an exam. Clean this up and I'd give the book a higher rating.

I was really disappointed in this book. I have used Q&A's consistently for many of my courses but this one was just done so poorly. It had many inconsistencies in the questions, typos, errors in referring to prior questions and even some of the answers were just barren or completely inaccurate. I really wish I hadn't spent my money on this purchase and just looked to other sources such as barbri or themis. Would not recommend to anyone trying to purchase a quality book to help them study.

Lots of typos and continuity errors. One example being a question referring to a previously stated fact pattern that suddenly throws in completely new evidence never before mentioned. I'd like to say that the majority of the information listed in the answer explanations is good, but much of it is suspect because in multiple instances the book is wrong on the law. Notably, one answer suggests that tangible evidence obtained as a result of questioning in violation of Miranda is subject to the exclusionary rule on that basis, which is totally contrary to U.S. v. Patane (in other words, Miranda violations don't constitute a poisonous tree, which is a pretty important thing for a study guide to get wrong). The questions and answers provided seem to have made with the intent to confuse the reader on the issues. I can't recommend this as a study aid.

As a third year law student, I would not recommend this book for studying criminal procedure. It is very sloppy with many typos, and some of the answers provided just seem outright incorrect. I am certainly not an expert on criminal procedure, but several of the explanations for "correct" answers did not convince me or my classmates. I would look elsewhere for practice questions.

Do you feel like you need more examples to work with that give you a detailed explanation with the answer? This book is great if you need some Q&A exercise. Since, this book is organized by topics within the law subject, it's a great way to rehash what one learns a day after class. I think this book had 82 topics so it's fairly easy to skip to a relevant section and start doing questions.

The book was so filled with spelling and grammar errors it was difficult to use it as an effective study tool. I expected more from the Q&A series, as I have used them before. A simple final edit could have avoided simple spelling errors. Waste of money.

If your prof plans on having any MC on your Crim Pro exam, this book is bound to have questions identical to those you'll see on your exam. My crim pro exam had 90 MC questions and I was prepared for all of them thanks to this book. Use it throughout the semester and you'll ace the final.

The questions presented and the answers given are COMPLETELY wrong. I've been reviewing for my Crim Pro final using my professor's rules outline, which he happens to teach a Bar Prep class, and the Q&A is clearly wrong on the law. Not only is the book wrong on the law, but the questions do not give enough facts, making them ambiguous. Stay away from this book, and get a Bar Prep outline instead.

I just ordered three more copies for giveaways for those (of us) who certainly believe in God, but find the resurrection of Jesus a little hard to fully accept with an honest belief.. I grew up with Sgt. Friday and "just the facts".. Apparently Lee Strobel did too... He lays out clear expert testimony (not just his own 2 cents worth) and builds a case that shows that the Resurrection is not just possible, but more than likely, and making it " believable in your heart"... I have highlighted all the key points in my copy so I can easily review for a "fluffing up" of my belief.. Mark 9:23-24, ..."Anything is possible if a person believes". 24) ...."I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!"... This is an excellent collection of facts to do just that. This book is only 1/4" thick and an excerpt from his full size book "The Case for Christ", which is a more lengthy and complete edition supporting the case for the whole existence of Christ... This book about Easter is specifically about the Resurrection... You might want to buy "The Case for Christ" first... The author, Lee Strobel, explains how, as an atheist, he set out to prove it all wrong, but ended up a believer by his own research... I recommend both these books to "help you with your unbelief"...

I have a hard time rating this product. It's an amazing book, but I didn't realize when I bought it that is was just three chapters taken out of the Case for Christ...I would just buy that book if I were you, but a very great apologetic and Gary Habermas is the man when it comes to the resurrection. If you like apologetics I would also check out Seeking Allah, Finding Jesus. What a great insight to how orthodox Muslims are raised and the true struggle and sacrifice they go through when converting to Christianity.

For some, no amount of evidence will convince; but for those who pursue objective truth and suspend their personal bias, will always benefit from books like this.To locate actual truth. All sides and all aspects must be explored, and this book is a great start!

The book was written in an easy to read format. The truth was proven time and time again. Open you heart and mind if you don't believe that Jesus is the Son of God making us followers unbounded by law of the Jews and Muslims, but followers of the most logical sounding prophet out there. He is the King of Kings!

This book makes as cogent a case for the Resurrection as any that occur to me. The evidence cited shows what the basic facts are, and which way they point. The conclusion is up to the reader. At this point, belief (or continued skepticism, for that matter) is an act of the will (Romans 10:10).

It was an excellent book about the details of Easter. I appreciated all the research that went into this project for the case and reality of Easter. It is a convincing conclusion by Lee Strobel, well-written and documented. I believe in Easter and what it means for my own resurrection!!!

I was deeply moved by Strobels treatise. I cannot call it a book because of its length. I would have liked him to include a little more of his thought process which converted him from staunch atheist to confirmed believer.

Compeling and powerful read with concluding implications that strike to the heart of every person. I liked how he handled the evidence and brought about things to think about and consider that most people don't when it comes to the resurrection of Jesus. If want to know more, this book is for you.

#27,324 in Books (See Top 100 in Books)

My original thought was to give the book either four or five stars. The strong points of the text are in the tidbits of information given by Junger, e.g. artillery shells do not travel as far at night as during the day and there was little animus between French civilians and German soldiers. With regard to the latter Junger writes of sharing the home of a French family and playing cards after the evening meal and visiting of the stupidity of war. It left me angry with the idea of old and vain politicians causing wars over who knows what at the cost to regular everyday people. The book gives many pages of description of artillery attacks but after about fifty or so pages it becomes repetitive. It seems the main causes of death and injury came from artillery and sniper fire. The description of trenches was also enlightening. But in reading other reviews, after buying the book, I learned that many parts of the original had been edited out. Nuts! My purchase was to get a better idea not of grand strategic stuff but what ordinary soldiers did and what they thought. While the Hofmann translation is readable, sometimes downplaying events to show the foolishness of the whole war thing, I really would have liked to see the original which I think appears in the 1929 translation. I advise the dear reader to look for the latter. I'm always curious about what is taken out.

Since this is the centennial of WWI I thought I would read a few books relating to it this summer. I had heard that this was a good book. I therefore ordered it and in anticipation of its arrival I read the reviews of it here on Amazon (This is the BEST feature of Amazon and will keep its stock selling for multiples above its P/E for decades) in more depth. I realized that some of this great novel had been expunged because of parts that cast a favorable light on the National Socialist. I then searched another book purveyor and ordered an earlier translation which was a reprint of a 1929 edition by Howard Fertig publishers, no attribution given to translation. The Amazon edition, translated by Michael Hofmann and published by Penguin arrived first. I began to read it and enjoyed it. The translation is good, crisp, and has a nice flow and rhythm to it. I was on the 3rd chapter when the 1929 edition arrived. At this point I began to read the 1929 edition. By the time I had gotten to where I was with the Michael Hofmann edition I was stunned! The narrator, Ernst Junger, portrayed in both books were totally different. The narrator of the 1929 edition was a classically educated man that was strongly patriotic. The Hofmann translation was of a faceless, unthinking, soldier. At this point I read them in parallel. It left me profoundly depressed to think that anyone would have the temerity to boldly blot out entire pages of a priceless autobiography. Whatever you may think of German nationalism and the German character, no one, not Hofmann, nor penguin has the right to butcher and slant a great work of literature. If you are a student of military history you want the 1929 edition as Junger takes the time to explain military tactics and the necessity for discipline and practice, practice, practice in the military arts. Hofmann has deemed this not fit for our enlighten. After reading both of these translations I am left with a deep feeling of alienation and angst. How many "translations" have I read that have completely edited out the meat of the book? As an American, born free, and will live free or die, I regard as enemies of mankind those who take it upon themselves to tell us what to think. I just want an unedited text. Let me draw the conclusion. For the above reasons I pronounce an anathema upon the Hofmann translation. Seekers of truth and authenticity I must wave you off; regard this translation as radioactive.

I cannot overstate how fantastic this book is. Junger's writing style is both easy to read and beautiful at the same time. He brings the reader into the world of a German solider in the most gruesome, intense and awesome (in the traditional understanding of the world) conflict in history up to that point. It reads like fiction. Junger's descriptions of combat, both in the trenches and in the open, will make your heart race, your mouth dry and give you goosebumps. This book is not all guns and guts though - the true picture of war as mostly boredom sprinkled with bits of fighting is drawn out. He humanizes his comrades and foes alike. In short, he makes the war experience imminently accessible to a person like me - mid-20's male, no military experience, reading the book over a century after the Guns of August sounded. What makes this book unique is the author's takeaways from his time fighting in The Great War. He loved it. He never felt more alive and human than when he was in the midst of fighting for his life. It is jarring for the modern reader, especially someone who is familiar with the experiences of WWI soldiers, to hear this perspective. This is not to say that he glosses over the horrors of what he lived through - he comes to this conclusion in spite of recognizing the hell of war. His view is more nuanced than "War is all glory" or "War is only hell". He saw himself and other men do things they could have never imagined possible - both magnificent and horrific. There are many fantastic books I read that I would not recommend to those who do not have an interest in military affairs or history. This is not one of those books. It is accessible to anyone who enjoys excellent writing. Junger's Storm of Steel is a literary classic.

If you've made it this far, chances are you are interested in WWI, so Buy it Now. This book is a great, straightforward account of what the front lines of WWI were like. It's a raw, and sometimes humorous account of life in the trenches This book will stick with you long after you've finished it. I stumbled on this book on accident and wish I knew about it sooner, it's really an amazing story. I recommend skipping the long winded forward though, or maybe go back and read it after the fact.
