I LOVE this book! The photos, the stories, the personal touch......All so nicely put together in one book. The author did an amazing job. I hope this is the beginning of many writings.

I purchased the kindle version and the pictures are simply stunning even when viewed from a phone. I really enjoyed following the author around the world through her mashup of personal stories. Fun read!

Lovely images and engaging stories to accompany. I would recommend for the wanderlust enthusiast!

If you EVER thought that traveling was scary, this book will change your mind. Lola draws you into each of her journeys with care, enthusiasm, natural interests and the pure beauty, that is found in all lands. Her personal stories allow you a "meet and greet" with regular people working, laughing and learning. "A Convergence at Sue's" was only one of my favorites. Lola's openness and natural curiosity makes it easy to join her in her adventures. You may not finish this book because you will be too eager to buy a plane ticket and begin your own travels. Please do read it from cover to cover, and then again to absorb the captivating photos of her world. Of OUR world! Let the "Inner GlobeTrotter" in you, come alive in this book!

This is not just a photo-book... it is equal parts journalistic insight, personal memoir, and love story to the people who inhabit this earth. I have been following Lola Åkerström's work after reading a photo-essay authored by her for BBC travel, so this book was overdue in my opinion. I am very selective when purchasing photo-books as I can only make room on my bookshelf for those that share a story just as much as artwork: this book delivers on both fronts and its compact form is accommodating for those of us who are nomads in our own right. Particularly as a woman of color, I appreciate Ms. Åkerström's work and I am very grateful that she has shared her perspective in this book, not only via her lens but also by opening her heart and sharing the candid stories that her years of adventure traveling this world has afforded her.

I saw Lola's work from National Geographic and then saw some of her insights to portrait photography. Her work is amazing and she has incredible travel and people insights. This book is definitely reflective of that and it was a great read. I highly recommend this for anyone who is into photography and travel.

Due North is a love story told in the key of wanderlust. Through gorgeous images and well-paired narratives, Lola Akinmade Ã…kerström invites you into her world and her perspective on the world. Her voice is curious, detailed, and confident as she aims to go beyond easy observation. Thanks to this book and CD. I read and practice so many times to prepare for my US citizenship test. Yes I pass and I am US Citizen. I will 100% recommend this to anybody who are ready to become US Citizen. I study US history and many. I have high respect to those who sacrificed their lives and brought freedom to this amazing country!

Helpful and clear.

The CD is good granted I had not much use for it if you get the book its pretty much the same thing, it depends what your style of learning is. Mine is reading and doing it.. So the CD was ok. Very informative though and thorough so I gave it a 5.

Content-wise, it is good - and that IS the most important thing - however, the format of the DVD is not very user friendly. In particular, the menus are not so good... my girlfriend is preparing for the citizenship test and is not all that familiar with the workings of DVD menus and their options. Here, after you select something (e.g., 'Play Movie' or "Questions 1-15"), you are then taken forward in the menu process and have to select the _exact_ same thing again. Also, the wording onscreen for the menu options is really, really small and could have been and should have been much larger. Additionally, the onscreen menu choices are in white lettering, which does not work well when the background image for the menu is the American Flag where the white letters for the menu options are very hard to make out when they overlay the white stripes in the flag... Finally, getting back to the start screen to begin the overall DVD play is more difficult than it should be too; again, you have to go through an extra 'move' just to start the thing over again. For the experienced DVD user, not a big deal, but at least in some cases, the folks using this tool will be from areas in which a firm knowledge of DVD menu operations is lacking, thus I would suggest that things be kept as simple overall in this regard. It's more like a 3.5 review in my mind, but this is not an option, thus the 4. Overall quality is okay otherwise, but the DVD menus in particular are not good.

Some think classics such as this should be enjoyed as they were written - and not put into plain English. To these people I say - don't read this book. Enjoy the myriad of un-translated classics just as they were written.I wish something like this were available many decades ago when I had to read this for a school assignment. It would have helped a lot.I *love* to read - but I never enjoyed all the reading assignments in school. I never had the time, or patience when younger.Now that I'm older, and have a bit more time available - I enjoy reading Milton's "Paradise Lost" as he wrote it. But for those students who find Milton difficult to navigate - enjoy this version.

This book saved my GPA. Here's the thing: I HATE Milton. I can't get through 20 lines without wanting to chuck the book out the window, let alone all 12 books of Paradise Lost. But I'm getting an MA in English and I had to take the class, so this book saved my grade and maybe even more than that, considering Milton makes me want to walk into oncoming traffic.The "translation" is absolutely awful from an aesthetic, literary perspective, though. There were some passages that made me laugh out loud, and believe me, Paradise Lost is not meant to be a comedy. True, the translation is meant to be read side by side with the original text, but I did not have time for that--I just needed to get the gist and move on with my life. Still, I was able to write a 25 page paper on Paradise Lost having only read this translation. I simply highlighted passages that were relevant to my argument, and then consulted the original text by matching up the line numbers so I could quote. Piece of cake.If you're looking for an aesthetic experience, you can do better. But if you just need to get the job done--if Milton is being forced upon you and you'd rather claw out your own eyeballs than read him--this will work just fine.

I read bits and pieces of Milton's masterpiece almost a decade ago, with many questions. This translations answered most of them.My only (major) complaint is that the usual annotations explaining biblical/English Renaissance period references should have been next to the translations, since this entire book is a side-by-side of the original text and explanations.

Although the epic is in English, only a student of old English can understand the book. The new version unlocks the beauty that is in this book. Now many more can see that Paradise Lost is truly a work of art. However, the reason I gave it 3 stars is due to the fact that the translation, at times, fails to capture the beauty that is John Milton. Some of the scenes are flat and lack the emotion and beauty that is written by John Milton.

A must read for those who are curious about the history of what may have happened to Adam & Eve. It sold as a poem yet reads like a story. Many Thanks Joseph Lanzara.

I'm not bad at understanding archaic English, but Milton's language and symbolism is really too difficult for me. This book makes it easy to read Paradise Lost, and for those purists who want to read the original work without the translation, they can easily turn it off.

I did find this helpful, but at times the interpretation is too basic. There are times the author will take several lines and reduce them to one overly simplified sentence. This might help someone, such as a high school student, get through an assignment. But it falls far short of genuine insight.

This is a decent book for any athlete in any sport interested in improving their athletic habits and non-game activities to make them better all around. It is straightforward, has some interesting anecdotes and real-life examples, and easy enough to read for a young athlete learning on their own. The only downfall is that the e-version gets to be a little scattered and comes across as out of order, but I think that is a factor of the changeover to electronic. Some might find many activities boring or basic, but I feel like there is at least one thing from each chapter that could be a takeaway for longterm, habitual use.

My son plays for an ISHL team and the first time he applied some of the habits (Dont' ask me) he did much better. Now he is going to get into these habits.

For hockey players at any level, this is a great book for the mental preparation of the game. Pre-game Habits provides a lot of insight into how to get ready to play the greatest game going! A must read for any player and coach from Pee Wees to pros.

Wish we would have had this year's ago with our older children who play hockey. Great STUFF! We loved the section on visualization and breathing.

I only play beer league now and this book had tons of great ideas that have delivered results when only partially implemented making the game more fun. I play for the pure enjoyment and having better more consistent performances makes the game even more addicting. Nice straightforward read with great antidotal stories to explain various concepts which can be applied to not only hockey but other sports and life. I wish I had this book 30 years ago.

This is a must for serious hockey players from high school on up. It is a similar read as Hockey Tough. However this is a much easier read. Having coached for the last twenty years from youth to Junior this is invaluable information.
