The city is easy to navigate and understand due in part to the waterways. The guide book will neglect to tell you of the filth, the unwillingness of anyone to speak English , the dearth of decent eats or MOST IMPORTANTLY that you must not drink the water . I got a violently painful and dibilitating case of Giardiosis which lasted 8 months despite reading the book
